Staying True to You In Business

As a creative person, a writer, a business person, you show up in a unique and brave way, every day. Staying true to yourself, your passion and your gifts can feel impossible. This world bombards with “perfect-life” comparison, should-do’s for a “successful” business and to-do lists that are designed by someone else for someone else.

 

Today’s mediation/healing is designed to help us release the expectations we have of others and the expectations others have of us. Let’s take 15 minutes to get back to center and get ready to step forward, with our true self.

Engaging Inspiration | Higher Living & Working

Where do you go

what do you do when you want a good dose of inspiration? 

 

I hear from a lot of people that their place to get ideas flowing is in the shower. Which makes some sense. Feeling the water hit your head, your spine… everything starts moving… thoughts flowing freely, like the water out of the shower head.

For me, the best inspirations come when I’m doing some kind of repetitive, rhythmic movement – running, cycling & kayaking are my best examples. I get into a zone and things start to click. New ideas come together. Perhaps a random concept I picked up from a book that morning will collide with another idea from a movie I watched 5 years ago, forming something really interesting and new.

I read recently that there is research that’s proven that there is increased brain activity with exercise that engages both sides of the body, like walking, running, cycling, etc. As you move your body rhythmically, one side, then the other side, you’re triggering each side of the brain. Your body, your mind, are finding balance. 

So, as you move, each side of the brain fires and this is where new ideas can come together for you. Answers come to long-held challenges. You think of a new product for your business. Someone you’ve not thought of in a long time is exactly the person you need to reach out to today. All the words come for a speech you’ve been struggling to write for weeks…

So I’m diligent about getting out to do this kind of activity. It’s not just good for my health and my spirit, but I love the ideas and inspiration that come during these sessions.
